When Ellie walked down the aisle at Tredudwell Manor, her bridesmaid Izzy was singing a song that groom Ryan had written years before they were even engaged. Seeing his reaction in that moment is what Ellie describes as pure magic, and it tells you everything you need to know about this sweet thoughtful outdoor wedding. Every detail was chosen intentionally, surrounded by the people they love most at the heart of it all.

From the lavender centrepieces to the handwritten letters waiting on every guest’s seat, Ellie and Ryan’s boho wedding in Cornwall was one of the most personal and heartfelt days we’ve had the pleasure of being part of.

Setting the scene with sage green, lavender scent and the beautiful Cornwall nature

Ellie and Ryan chose a sage green and lavender palette with a boho rustic feel, and it suited our Tredudwell Manor grounds perfectly. Lavender plants used as table centrepieces were diffused with lavender oil to create a gentle scent that drifted through the day.

The bridesmaids chose their own sage green dresses independently, and it worked beautifully. Brookside Flower Company, who grow all their flowers on their own farm, brought the whole look to life with natural arrangements.

A calm and joyful morning to get ready

The morning began at a gentle pace. Ellie and her bridesmaids got ready in the bridal suite at the manor house, with Sally Orchard on makeup, while Ryan spent the morning upstairs with his brother and dad.

An incredibly personal outdoor wedding ceremony in Cornwall

At midday, Ellie and Ryan had their outdoor wedding ceremony in our amphitheatre and Roman Temples. Being surrounded by nature was important to them both, and the open sky and Cornish countryside gave the moment exactly the feeling they were looking for. For couples dreaming of an outdoor wedding in Cornwall, it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful setting.

What made the ceremony truly theirs was who led it. Ellie’s godmother, a qualified registrar, married them alongside the registrars from Cornwall Council. Three readings followed, each one delivered by someone close to them: Ellie’s mum, Ryan’s mum, and Ellie’s dad. And then there were the vows written by Ellie and Ryan themselves.

Pimms o’clock reception post-ceremony

After the outdoor wedding ceremony, guests spilled out onto the lawn for canapés and Pimm’s, with lawn games running across the grounds. Meanwhile, Tredudwell favourite Dan Ward whisked Ellie and Ryan away to the fields for their first photos as a married couple.

“He made us feel so at ease and captured the most incredible, natural moments,” Ellie told us.

Thoughtful touches for their wedding guests

If there’s one thing that sets Ellie and Ryan’s wedding apart, it’s how much thought went into making every guest feel seen.

Before the wedding, the couple printed a photo of themselves with each guest and wrote them a personal letter. These letters were placed on seats before the wedding ceremony and guests were asked not to open them until after the entrance. It was their way of saying: we’re so glad you’re here, and we wanted you to know why.

They also asked every guest to write an anniversary card, to be opened year by year in the decades to come.

The stunning centrepiece wedding cake was made by Les from Little Heath Bakery, who also created 100 individually decorated cupcakes for the wedding guests, each adorned with different flowers.

A delicious BBQ wedding breakfast

Ellie and Ryan made their entrance to a room full of cheering guests before sitting down to a buffet-style barbecue by Cornwall Chef. The peach and mozzarella salad was particularly talked about, and rightly so.

Speeches followed, heartfelt and funny in equal measure, before guests drifted outside for some fresh air and made everyone feel like they never wanted to leave.

Ellie and Ryan had been choreographing and practicing their first dance to “Home” by Edward Sharpe for months before the wedding which became a precious moment to be witnessed.

What did they wear?

Ellie found her dress at Love Me Do Brides whilst Ryan’s suit came from Suits Direct. The bridesmaids chose their own dresses in the sage green palette, each finding something that felt right for them while pulling together beautifully as a group.

Why they loved working with Tredudwell

Ellie and Ryan planned most of the day themselves, styling everything without a formal stylist, leaning on instinct and on the people around them. Tredudwell team members Hayley and Bex were there throughout, with suggestions, support, and that calm presence that makes the whole planning process feel manageable.

“They were amazing, responsive and reassuring,” Ellie says. “Every time we had a question or needed help, they were there with great advice.”

The setup day the day before made all the difference, giving them time to bring everything together without pressure.

“We can’t thank Hayley, Bex, Becky, and the whole team at Tredudwell Manor enough. From start to finish, they were so helpful, thoughtful, and knowledgeable, they truly thought of everything. The venue was absolutely stunning, and we had the most amazing few days celebrating there. Our wedding was everything we dreamed of. The best day of our lives.”

Ellie’s advice for Tredudwell couples

“Stay in close contact with Hayley and the Tredudwell team. They were always there for us. And on the day, just let yourself be present. It won’t all go exactly as planned, but the love and the people are what matter most.”

What is a boho wedding in Cornwall?

A boho wedding in Cornwall typically combines relaxed, natural styling with meaningful personal touches, set within Cornwall’s beautiful countryside or coastal landscape. Ellie and Ryan’s wedding at Tredudwell Manor is a perfect example: sage green and lavender florals, an outdoor ceremony surrounded by nature, handmade details, and an atmosphere that felt completely unhurried and personal.

Can you have an outdoor wedding ceremony in Cornwall?

Yes. Tredudwell Manor is fully licensed for outdoor wedding ceremonies, with several beautiful spaces including the Roman Temple amphitheatre and the wider grounds. Ellie and Ryan married outdoors at midday surrounded by their closest family and friends.

What makes a boho wedding different from a traditional wedding?

Boho weddings tend to prioritise personal meaning over convention: writing your own vows, choosing natural florals, styling the space yourselves, and creating an atmosphere that reflects who you are as a couple. Tredudwell works beautifully for this style because the space is completely flexible and the team supports whatever vision couples bring.
