When couples visit our Cornwall wedding venue Tredudwell Manor for the first time, they often comment on how calm it feels. The space, the light, the views and the sense of being tucked away in the Cornish countryside all come together in a way that instantly slows everything down. That feeling is part of what makes Tredudwell such a special Cornwall wedding venue, not just for couples, but for the creative teams who work here too. In this useful Q&A from our friends I Do Films, a wedding film and photography team who know our venue well. They talk about what makes wedding videography at Tredudwell Manor so special, how the light and landscape shape their work, and their advice for couples who want their wedding film and photographs to feel natural and timeless.

What do you love most about filming and photographing weddings in Cornwall?
Cornwall offers some of the most cinematic scenery in the UK. The dramatic coastline, soft golden light, rolling hills and peaceful countryside make every wedding incredibly atmospheric. The landscape becomes part of the story, giving our films and photos a natural beauty that’s hard to replicate anywhere else. As filmmakers and photographers, it’s a privilege to work in such a visually rich and inspiring place.
Can you tell us a little about yourselves and your approach to wedding videography and photography?
We’re a full team with a strong background in TV and film, and that experience shapes the way we approach both wedding videography and photography. Storytelling is at the heart of everything we do. We focus on capturing real emotion, natural interactions and the true atmosphere of the day, blending a documentary approach with cinematic visuals. Our goal is always to create something authentic, personal and timeless for every couple.

How did you get started in wedding videography and photography?
Our journey began in the TV and film industry, where we learned the power of storytelling and capturing meaningful moments. After filming our first wedding, we realised how rewarding it is to create something that couples and their families will treasure for a lifetime. From there, it felt natural to offer both photography and videography so we could tell a complete, cohesive story from every angle. It’s a passion that continues to grow with every wedding we film and photograph.

When planning photography and wedding videography at Tredudwell (or nearby) that look especially beautiful on film and in photos?
Definitely. The gardens are full of stunning backdrops with tree-lined paths, manicured lawns and quiet, romantic corners that are perfect for portraits. During golden hour, the grounds glow beautifully on camera. Just a short distance away, locations like the national trust grounds and the surrounding coastal paths offer breathtaking, dramatic scenery that enhances both films and photos. It’s an incredible mix of elegance and natural beauty.

Do you have a favourite memory from a Tredudwell wedding that’s stayed with you?
One moment that always stays with us is when a couple wandered into the gardens just after their ceremony. The golden light, the quiet atmosphere and the pure joy between them created an intimate scene that was emotional to capture in both video and photography. Moments like that that are unposed and completely authentic often become the heart of our storytelling.

Do you have any tips for couples on how to make the most of the setting in their wedding film and photos?
Our biggest tip is to take a little time to explore the grounds together. Natural moments always look the most beautiful on camera, so there’s no need to pose, just walk, chat, laugh and soak in the surroundings. If possible, we recommend setting aside 10–15 minutes around sunset. The light at Tredudwell Manor during that time is incredible and adds a stunning romantic feel to both your film and your photography.

What should couples think about when planning a Cornwall or destination wedding in terms of videography and photography?
Cornwall is beautiful but can be unpredictable, so flexibility is key. Planning around weather, travel times and sunset helps us capture everything smoothly. If you want coastal shots, it’s worth considering tides, wind and walking distance. For destination weddings, sharing detailed information about the schedule helps us prepare the right equipment and plan our approach for capturing the day in both film and photos.

Why do you believe videography and photography are important investments for weddings?
Your wedding day goes by so quickly, and having both photography and videography allows you to relive it in different but equally powerful ways. Photos freeze those timeless moments you want to keep forever, while video preserves movement, emotion and sound plus the laughter, the vows, the reactions and all the little moments in between. Together, they tell the full story of your day and become something your family can treasure for decades.

What should couples look for when choosing a videographer and photographer for a Cornwall wedding?
We always encourage couples to choose a team whose style they truly love and who understands how to work with Cornwall’s natural light and landscapes. It’s also important to feel comfortable around your videographer and photographer because you spend a lot of your day with them, so a good connection makes a huge difference. Experience, communication, reliability and a genuine passion for storytelling are all key when making your choice. We have a photography studio in Newquay and always encourage couples to come and meet us before their big day.

What happens when you work with couples who are camera shy? How do you help them feel at ease?
Most of our couples describe themselves as camera shy, and that’s perfectly normal. Our approach is very relaxed and unobtrusive. We encourage couples to focus on each other rather than the camera, and we capture moments as they naturally unfold. We’re there to gently guide when needed, but we blend into the day so it never feels like a photoshoot. Many couples tell us afterwards that they forgot the cameras were even there.

What’s your favourite part of a wedding day to film and photograph, and why?
We absolutely love the moments just after the ceremony. The excitement, relief and joy are so genuine, it’s one of the most emotional and energetic parts of the day. Capturing that in both video and photos always feels special, and it often becomes a standout moment in the final film and gallery. It’s a beautiful reflection of what the day is truly about.
