When Rachel first set her sights on Tredudwell Manor back years ago, she had a vision: a soft, romantic English pastel garden wedding in Cornwall filled with gentle pastels, natural textures and timeless elegance. Fast forward to their wedding day, and that vision became a reality in the most magical way possible.
It was love at first visit
“Tredudwell was the first (and only) venue we visited,” Michael explains. “The moment we walked onto the grounds during our visit with Hayley, we knew it was perfect for us.”
What sealed the deal? The history, the beauty, and the secluded, peaceful nature of this special Cornwall wedding venue. And when you’ve found perfection, why keep looking?

An outdoor wedding ceremony surrounded by nature
For Michael and Rachel, choosing an outdoor civil ceremony was a no-brainer. “There was no way we weren’t going to make the most of the incredible grounds that Tredudwell has to offer,” they share.
This stunning outdoor wedding venue in Cornwall provided the perfect backdrop for their vows, with its manicured gardens and historic charm creating an atmosphere that allowed their guests to truly relax and soak in the moment.

The details that made their Cornwall wedding extra special
The Dress
Rachel found her dream gown at Bridal Gossip in Cornwall, a House of St Patrick design called Eugenia that perfectly complemented the romantic garden aesthetic.

The Flowers
Escential Blooms, led by Kirsty and her wonderful team, brought the soft pastel vision to life with arrangements that perfectly enhanced Tredudwell’s natural beauty.

The Cakes
Instead of one traditional wedding cake, the couple chose three separate flavoured cakes, all frosted in soft off-white icing. Lovingly made by Rachel’s sister, they were displayed on a large tree-trunk cake stand surrounded by flowers, perfectly in keeping with the garden setting.

The Hair
Becky from Bear Bridal styled Rachel and her bridal party, creating looks that had everyone raving.

Food worth talking about
When almost every guest comments on the wedding food, you know you’ve chosen the right caterer. Richard McGeown from Couch’s Great House in Polperro created a menu that some guests declared “the best wedding food they’d ever had.” The couple loved the freedom to personalise their catering, and Richard brilliantly incorporated Spanish, Cornish and German influences into the menu, reflecting both Michael and Rachel’s heritage.

Guests enjoyed canapés followed by a three-course sit-down meal, with Sarah’s Pasties from Looe served later in the evening. An open bar featuring signature cocktails and a full selection of drinks kept the celebration flowing.
Tredudwell is proud to offer a wide range of inhouse catering – you can find out more here.
Personal touches that made it perfect
“Tredudwell gave us the freedom to add our own touches,” the couple explain. “We wanted to keep things minimal and let the natural beauty of the venue shine through.”
Their thoughtful additions included a photobooth (which was a complete hit with guests), personalised menus and signage, tealights scattered throughout with carefully chosen floral arrangements. The balance was perfect!

A wedding captured beautifully
Kat Springle from The Springles photographed the day, and the couple couldn’t speak more highly of her work. “Kat was brilliant on the day, calm, unobtrusive and made us feel completely at ease, capturing everything so naturally.”

Planning made easy
With over a year to plan and the constant support of Haley and the Tredudwell team, Michael and Rachel felt organised and confident throughout the process. “Extremely easy, thorough and welcoming,” they say of working with us. “No stone was left unturned. Whenever we felt anxious about certain aspects of the day, Hayley and the team reassured us and made us feel completely safe in our decisions.” We handle last-minute guest changes and weather worries all for you too!

After two weeks of unpredictable conditions, Michael and Rachel’s wedding day brought wall-to-wall sunshine. Yes, it was windy, but as they put it: “We felt like the luckiest newlyweds in the world.”

Final words of wisdom
Ask Michael and Rachel about their favourite moment, and they’ll tell you it was walking back up to the main venue together after the ceremony as husband and wife for the first time.
Michael’s second favourite? “Our final dance of the night, surrounded by our parents and closest friends.”

Their top tip – “Give yourselves plenty of time to plan. Most importantly, listen to and trust the suppliers, they are true professionals and can offer sound guidance that will make the planning process feel much easier.”
