Today on our blog, we are delighted to feature Jas and Nick, a truly wonderful couple who had their September wedding in Cornwall here. As you can see, they had the happiest day! We asked them lots of useful questions to inspire you when planning your own wedding in Cornwall here at Tredudwell.
Why did you choose to get married at Tredudwell Manor?
“We wanted somewhere we could spend the night before and night of the wedding with family and friends, where we could have the ceremony and reception in one place, and that really captured how beautiful and magical Cornwall is. Tredudwell is so stunning with the house, pavilion and outdoor areas, as well as the coast path just down the road. Plus, whilst we had everything in one place, they also allowed the flexibility of choosing our preferred suppliers. The team at Tredudwell were amazing from the first moment we visited on a cold and wet day in December, to our wedding day in September.”
What kind of wedding ceremony did you opt for?
“One thing we really wanted was an outdoor ceremony, but with the unpredictable weather in Cornwall this is never guaranteed! The whole team was great on the day and we were able to make the call in the morning to do it outside with everyone quickly and efficiently doing the set up for it.”
What did you all wear for your September wedding in Cornwall?
“My dress was by designer Justin Alexander and bought from the shop Aurora Bride in Surrey. My shoes were from Dune London. My veil I got second-hand online, and my necklace was my ‘something old’ as it was my great-great-grandmother’s. The hair and makeup was done by Laura Jane Prisk for myself, bridesmaids and mother’s. Laura was absolutely brilliant and we had such a giggle the morning of the wedding. She made us all feel beautiful and I don’t think we stopped smiling!”
What kind of personal touches did you love adding to your wedding at Tredudwell?
“Our decor was a navy/burgundy colour scheme, but other than that we wanted to keep it simple and rustic. Tredudwell is so beautiful already, so we made the most of our flowers, lots of pictures, and things that we could find and make as decor. We used driftwood to hang pictures and painted stones for table names, these also doubled up as wedding favours! And our centrepieces were more photos with gin bottles and fairy lights.”
Who did your wedding flowers?
“Ellie Truscott from the Flower Press Shop in Truro did all of our flowers – the bouquets, pew ends/centrepieces, buttonholes and flower stands, as well as flowers in our hair. I’ve known Ellie for years and love all the flowers she does. The arrangements are rustic, a bit wild, and so beautiful. I only gave her the colours we wanted and she did the rest!”
What did you eat and drink?
“The caterer was suggested by the Tredudwell team. We went with Jamie Beetham and we couldn’t recommend him and his team highly enough. The food was amazing. We both love food so being able to have sharer plates of everything we wanted was perfect. They also catered for various dietary requirements without blinking, and Bevan and the front of house team kept the afternoon running so smoothly from reception drinks and canapes, to dessert and speeches, to the final pasties to soak up at the end of the night! Our guests were all raving about it after the day. Our cake was done by Hayley from Dollybird Bakes. We had three tiers of different flavours which were delicious! She was so helpful and sent us a lot of tasters in the post as we weren’t able to travel down.”
Who photographed and filmed your wedding?
“Our photographer was Paul Fox from Albion Row Photography. Paul was incredible – from our first call to discuss our wedding plans, to sending all of the photos through. He managed to capture all of the joy, silliness and love from our wedding day without being obtrusive and kept everyone smiling. He was also fully on board with coming down to the coast path for some couple shots in the rain which was so beautiful! We cannot recommend him highly enough.
We also had James McInnes Slegg from This is Cornwall Films as our videographer, and he worked really well with Paul to capture our day on video. We booked this quite last minute as we weren’t sure we’d have the budget, but so glad we did as capturing those memories on video is priceless – the ceremony and speeches went past in a whirlwind on the day so it’s been really fun to watch those back.”
Do you have any advice to share with our couples planning their wedding?
“Enjoy the day and don’t stress about the small things. The most important thing is you as a couple getting to celebrate with your closest friends and family. If you’ve already planned the day with a great team of suppliers (venue, caterers, photographer!) then let them be the pros and have the best time.”
