Oh wow do we have a beauty of a wedding to share with you today! We’re a big fan of making your wedding into a weekend so when Sophie and James opted for a two day wedding with us, we were thrilled. What’s more is, they chose a brilliant way to celebrate that was a perfect blend for them. Sophie and Jamie proved you can have both an intimate wedding and a big party celebration with their unforgettable weekend wedding.

Sophie wanted a smaller ceremony tied to where she grew up. Jamie was keen for a large party-style event where they could celebrate with everyone. The solution? A two-day celebration at this stunning weekend wedding venue in Cornwall that gave them the best of both worlds.
“On reflection we both massively enjoyed each day for different reasons and so we’re very glad Tredudwell was able to accommodate this,” the couple share.

Friday – the intimate celebration
The celebrations kicked off with a small official church ceremony at the church Sophie attended growing up, just 30 minutes from Tredudwell. Immediate family and very close friends gathered for this special moment before returning to the manor for a candlelit dinner in the house.
Caterer Jamie Beetham, along with wedding planner Bree from Two Be Wed and the Tredudwell team, expertly arranged an intimate evening featuring canapés, a choice of trio of lamb or hake risotto, and miniature desserts.
Sophie’s favourite moment? “Friday was more my vibe, it was quiet and calm with an intimate photoshoot afterwards.”
For Jamie, the highlight was “having some relaxed glasses of champagne outside of Boconnoc church (off a gravestone) with our nearest and dearest.”

Saturday – the big celebration
Day two brought around 80 guests from across the country and overseas for a celebrant service in our Roman temple. The soft-autumn theme came to life, with pastel blue as the main colour, something quite soft against the bold autumn tones of the leaves outside. This autumn wedding in Cornwall showcased the best of the season, with nature providing a stunning backdrop of golden leaves and late summer sunshine.

A wedding feast to remember
Saturday’s reception was a relaxed, sharing-style affair. Guests enjoyed canapés followed by platters of steak, chicken, mackerel, prawns and loads of different side dishes. A Cornish ice cream bar provided dessert, with pasties served in the evening (which went down a hit).

The couple served their own hand-selected wines and champagnes, plus their own-recipe Hugo Spritz as reception drinks. “Tredudwell then put on an excellent range of drinks at the bar which I think all of our guests were satisfied with,” they note.
Local chef Jamie Beetham’s attention to detail shone through, even preparing vegan canapés for a guest with dietary requirements without being specifically asked.

Why did they choose to get married at Tredudwell?
“For us it was the gorgeous Cornwall location that sold it, being close enough to busier areas where people could stay (Looe, Fowey, Polperro etc) whilst also being incredibly tranquil. We also wanted somewhere that had traditional elements (i.e. the main manor house) combined with practical eating and dancing facilities – the barn area worked perfectly for this. Having so much space outside too also meant that at no point did it feel like anyone was hemmed in or crammed into any specific area.”

Personalising their wedding with special touches
Here at Tredudwell we are proud to offer complete personalisation for your wedding – it truly can be done however you wish!

Sophie created a mirror sign on Thursday evening, with help from her amazing bridesmaid Katie. “It was much more work than I thought it was going to be!! It actually helped keep me calm and nerve-free prior to Friday.”
She also hand-wrote the placecards for Friday at midnight after their planner Bree mentioned them. “I’d forgotten to do them!”
Other thoughtful details included a sweetheart table on Saturday. “I was so nervous Saturday I couldn’t eat and was happy not to have the added pressure of family next to me,” Sophie shares, “but the caterers made sure I had food when and if I needed.”

Planning from afar was a challenge
One of the biggest challenges for Sophie and Jamie was planning a Cornwall wedding whilst based in London. Sophie is from the area, but coordinating suppliers and logistics from a distance proved tricky.
“Getting a wedding planner on the ground in Cornwall was the best decision we made to resolve this challenge,” they reveal. “Bree from Two Be Wed was excellent at taking the stress out of the organisation of the day, both in advance of and on the wedding day.”
The Tredudwell team were equally supportive. “I found the Tredudwell team super helpful and attentive throughout the process. They were excellent at responding to our stresses promptly (we had a couple of ‘panic’ moments at times) and were incredibly knowledgeable when it came to local trusted suppliers.” The team even helped when the wedding car got a puncture whilst leaving the venue!

On making decisions together
“A lot of things were trial and error,” the couple admit. “We started planning the ‘big’ elements of the wedding a long time in advance to allow us time to scope out which vendors worked for us and what sort of things we were into.”
Bree was excellent at helping consolidate their different ideas, especially when they wanted various things that wouldn’t have worked well together. “At the end of the day you do have to make judgement calls though and, although they were tough, once you’ve made them everything else falls into place quite smoothly.”

Favourite moments of their Cornwall wedding day
Sophie: “Both days were amazing and unforgettable. Friday was more my vibe, it was quiet and calm with an intimate photoshoot afterwards. But Saturday was so lovely, I had my maid of honour and childhood best friend with me along with my closest two friends from university as bridesmaids. I did my mum’s makeup that morning which is a special memory for us both. The quiet moments we managed to steal away together was the highlight though. Also having a sweetheart table was great (I was so nervous Saturday I couldn’t eat and was happy not to have the added pressure of family next to me then but the caterers made sure I had food when/if I needed).”

Jamie: “Both days had different high points for me. On the Friday, it was having some relaxed glasses of champagne outside of Boconnoc church (off a gravestone) with our nearest and dearest. But at Tredudwell itself, it was probably those little moments in between the ‘big events’ whether just us sharing a quiet minute or two, or where we were able to see everyone mixing and having fun.”

Their advice for future Tredudwell couples
“Engage with Tredudwell and your suppliers or planner, they are there to help and have done this way more than you (we hope)!”
The couple also recommend making sure everyone has taxis booked for the evening. As Jamie emphasised in his wedding speech, it’s one of those practical details that makes a real difference.

A happy couple review
“Thank you so much for making our wedding so unforgettable and all round amazing! We were so happy with our day and the team went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a lovely time! Staying in the manor was lovely and it was great to have so much flexibility. The team could honestly not be more helpful, even when we had a flat tyre the next day as we were leaving! Thank you again for making our wedding the best ever.”
