We know that many couples dream of a spring wedding in Cornwall, but sometimes wonder if it’s too late to make it happen, especially when it comes to finding the dress. So, we teamed up with our friends at Coastal Bridal, one of Cornwall’s most trusted boutiques, to show that it’s absolutely possible to plan a beautiful spring celebration and feel completely wedding-ready.

We caught up with Hailey from Coastal Bridal to talk all things wedding dresses from timelines to tips for creating calm and joy on your wedding journey.

Q&A with Coastal Bridal: Making Sure Our Spring Brides Have Their Dream Dresses on Time

1. Spring is such a magical time for weddings. How do you and your wonderful designers get ready behind the scenes to make sure every bride has her dress ready in time for the big day?

Behind the scenes is run like clockwork, we ensure we only work with the designers that treat brides as if they were their own family, rather than just a number. That starts with us having spent many years working together to build the relationship, to choosing the right dresses that brides will fall in love with, to rigorous quality control and the best quality of fabrics, beading and lace. We know how each other works, what we need from each other to ensure a smooth process and we can put our absolute trust and faith in each other to deliver the best time after time.

2. Once a bride finds “the one,” what does the timeline usually look like from saying yes to the dress to that final fitting before the wedding?

In an ideal world around 12 months before the wedding is the perfect time to find your dress, because the majority of our dresses are made to order, this can take anywhere from 5 to 7 months for them to arrive with us, then we need to allow time with our talented seamstresses to ensure the perfect fit.

Of course this timescale can’t always happen for various reasons, so we can always offer some alternatives, from paying a rush order fee, to choosing a dress from a designer that has a shorter lead time as standard, to looking at dresses that are already in stock with a designer, to buying the sample dress off the rail.
The designers and I will always do our best to give the most options and still have a stress-free experience.

3. For brides planning a spring wedding, when would you recommend they start the dress search, and what are your top tips for keeping everything on schedule?

Since we are now already in October, ideally the dress would’ve already been chosen and is being made or has arrived with us. But as I’ve mentioned previously if this isn’t the case, there is always things we can do, there’s always options. But the more time you give yourself the more choices of dresses you’ll have, and you will save money on rush order fees.

4. We know sometimes little hiccups can happen, whether it’s a delivery delay or a last-minute alteration. How does Coastal Bridal handle those moments to keep things stress-free for brides?

The designer and us will always be working extra hard behind the scenes to make sure everything goes to plan, this goes back to our original point of ensuring we work with the best designers in the business, who will always do their best to ensure the dress is everything the bride imagined it would be. We work with the best seamstresses that Cornwall has to offer, who are more than equipped to deal with any last-minute tailoring and alterations, providing the bride has previously booked in using their services, we will always advise this is done at the point of purchasing their dress.

5. And finally, what’s your best advice for spring brides to help make the dress process as smooth and enjoyable as possible?

For Spring 2026 brides come and see us to choose your dress as soon as you can to make sure you have time on your side, plus the most choice of dresses. Put your trust in us and the designers, we are very experienced through this process. Bring a couple of your favourite people to the appointment, who you trust and genuinely want the best for you. Follow your gut, the right dress isn’t always going to make your cry (it’s not like the TV programme!), it’s the one that you feel the most confident and comfortable in and the one that you’re the most excited to wear!
