Planning a weekday wedding in the school holidays – yes or no?

Here at our Cornwall wedding venue Tredudwell Manor, we pride ourselves in our flexibility. We love to cater to all sizes of weddings, but also on any day of the week! Sometimes our couples ask if there is an optimal time to do this but actually, there are pros and cons to any date in the year! Soon enough half term will be starting and we thought we would simply highlight a few reasons why planning a wedding in the school holidays may be a good idea, especially for you teacher couples to be, to book a viewing at Tredudwell! Why not ask first-hand our dearest Lydia who tied the knot with Craig on a mid-week date in August this year? Their wedding was utterly beautiful and hope to inspire you.

Do you think teachers consider getting married at Tredudwell during school holidays?

“Yes, for me it was the only time that meant we could enjoy a two week honeymoon after. I know lots of teachers get married and then honeymoon later in the year but I think for us, we wanted to stay in that bubble for as long as we could.”

What are the advantages of a summer wedding for teachers?

“Lots of advantages to a summer wedding, no stress due to the school year being over and there being a nice break to get things ready for September. You have time to plan and organise last minute bits in the lead-up, which I wouldn’t have had time to do if I was still in school. We could enjoy a full 2-week honeymoon and still have a couple of weeks when we got back to adjust to being home and start to get work prepped ready for school to start. Plus a big bonus, the weather is (usually) better!”

How can a wedding during school holidays benefit teacher guests?

“It means that teacher guests don’t have to worry about working, or carrying the stress of work with them. They can completely let their hair down and enjoy having a good time.”

What is your advice to other teachers to make the most out of their school holiday wedding in Cornwall?

“We got married on the 9th August, and for us, that timing just worked well. It meant we had a little time after school breaks up to finish some last-minute planning. In addition to having plenty of time after the wedding to enjoy. The beaches in Cornwall are just stunning, so if you’re getting married in Cornwall in the summer, definitely make the most of them! Plus, if you get married somewhere with a view, well, it just looks stunning as the backdrop of your wedding photos!”
